Bloody intense, packed with adrenaline and an emotional roller-coaster. Well done team for surviving this day.
I couldn’t really expect what was about to come: the pressure, the adrenaline, the intensity of those short workouts. Being crammed in a little space, trying to keep communicating with each other in the team and trying to hear our judge in the chaos of the shouting crowd and loud music.
There were a lot of distressing moments during the day:
- When all the plans went out the window, leaving us not knowing who was supposed to do what and for how many reps.
- When my mind knew it was a hang clean but my body started from the ground. No rep. SEVERAL TIMES.
- When I completely forgot how to Snatch properly even though all was perfectly fine during the warm up. When I had to painfully muscle it up, in front of everybody watching because we were the last team.
- When for no reason my left grip started to fail and I could feel my hand slowly open, without being able to do anything about it.
But overall, what an amazing day surrounded by my CrossFit Sweetrack family. Bloody intense, packed with adrenaline and an emotional roller-coaster. Well done team (and all participants) for surviving this day.
It was the first competition of my life and a very different reality compared to regular training. I have learned a lot about some of my weaknesses and the many things I have to work on. I want to get over that “not good enough” feeling by working even harder and smarter to get better.
A big thank you to my teammates and to everybody from our box for being awesome people.
